Theatre performance based on the text by Arthur Rimbaud
With Jonathan Lazzini

Duration: 00:45:00
Le dérèglement de tous les sens. And not the carelessness with which certain translators have tried to get away with it. This is the terrible, joyous, and ungraspable lesson of Une Saison en Enfer. The leap of the wild beast toward happiness that Arthur Rimbaud makes at just nineteen years old. The vocation to be thought, and not to think. The constant search for elsewhere without truly knowing where to look for it.
A journey through the trial of experience, echoing Dante, where all presumed truths are put to the test. La Saison offers us the profile of an eternal youth who knows contradiction as a vital element. The irony and boldness with which the author confronts language, the word, and how he tears into every political and religious commonplace of a decadent Europe, still—after one hundred and fifty years—continue to surprise, to scorch, to burn anyone who approaches this testament.
The performance establishes a discontinuous relationship between an actor, a musician, and videos projected in the background. A dark room that gradually lights up, until it leaves the actor exposed, a victim of the relentless light. Like a drunken gnat dreaming of being devoured by the sun on the shores of a Europe to be abandoned. The musician will play, through various instruments, a lull-like motif as elusive as Rimbaud’s hell.
